About This Spot

Stepping into Filipino Express Restaurant is like opening a door into a quietly vibrant corner of Filipino culture tucked within Raleigh’s bustling Capital Boulevard. Nestled inside an Oriental grocery store, this casual local eatery carries an inviting hum—not loud, but filled with the friendly energy of a place where regulars gather and newcomers quickly feel at ease. The pace moves with a comforting rhythm, where the warmth from the kitchen meets the casual buzz of discovery.

Here, the experience feels grounded and genuine. The moment you order, the aromas tell stories—smoky notes from slow-grilled chicken skewers mingle with the faint sweetness of freshly baked Spanish bread and hints of earthy ube desserts. Plates arrive filled with wholesome portions—layers of comfort and flavor that seem designed to be savored rather than rushed. Whether sharing a combination platter that pairs savory and vegetable-rich dishes or tasting a delicate halo-halo chilled just right, every bite carries a sense of home-cooked care and decades of culinary tradition.

What stands out most is the subtle balance between familiarity and exploration. The kitchen bridges classic Filipino staples with the approachable heartiness of fast food, making it both a spot for those craving a nostalgic meal and curious newcomers drawn to flavors less traveled. The staff’s quiet attentiveness adds to the experience, making each visit feel more like stepping into someone’s welcoming kitchen than a typical quick-serve stop.

In a neighborhood infused with diverse flavors, Filipino Express offers a moment of connection—through food, warmth, and the joyful discovery of dishes that delight quietly but leave a lasting impression. It’s a place where the focus rests on authentic, unpretentious enjoyment, inviting you to slow down and appreciate the richness woven through each plate and human interaction.

So everywhere I travel I try to find a Filipino restaurant/store. This seemed to be the only one in the area. I was looking forward to trying dinuguan but it didn't look like they had any. I did try the pork adobo which was flavorful and the pinakbet. I like it had a lot of veggies. I did get Shanghai lumpia which was okay. They gave a huge serving of rice. I couldn't eat it all so I brought it back home. It was enough to feed 4 people. I wanted to buy the bread but didn't have enough money on me but it looked good.

This place was a little confusing to find. It's inside the Oriental Store! The food here was incredible! First time having Filipino food and desserts. Even the grocery store had so many unique specialty items. The owners are so genuine and sweet. The pricing is really good for the portions.

I give the food 5 stars. Stopped by and there was a line. We'll worth the wait. Authentic Filipino food. Very flavorful and fresh. Friendly staff. Will definitely come back.

Located inside the grocery store. I ordered chicken adobo specifically bc I saw a review about the grease. I also got lechon kawali. Not sure if they changed the recipe since, but the adobo looked good and tasted great. Meat fell off my bone and was super juicy and tender. The lechon kawali was really crispy. I like fat, but I didn't notice an uncool amount of grease. And imma just say...if it doesn't have fat, it probably won't be good.

Delicious food! We ordered takeout from here for the first time last week and I'm already looking forward to having it again. Everything we tried was delicious, and the portion sizes for the price were great too. We tried the lumpia, pancit bihon, bicol express, chicken adobo, and lechon kawali. If I had to pick two favorites I'd probably go with the lechon, which was crispy and fatty and savory just like I'd hoped, and the bicol express, which just fell apart in your mouth. Probably not ideal food if you're on a diet, but seriously tasty and made for great leftovers for lunch later as well.

Oh my damn finally found some Filipino food in the area and reminds me of the stores back in the DC area . Tucked away in a grocery store is Filipino Express which serves some authentic food.. No real menu besides the pic above the counter... There is more food to offer than wahts on the wall of pics. I ended ordering the Lumpia, Pork Singang, Chicken Adobo, Pancit, and lechon kawali and man oh man it did not disappoint. The lumpia were decent sized and crispy and delicious. The Pork Singang has the right amount of sour and savory and was yummy. Chicken adobo was flavorful but a lil bit dry but flavor was there . Pancit is Pancit.. cant mess that up really . The lechon was crispy and good... fat to meat ratio was a bit more on the fatty side but overall good . I will definitely be back to try the other items especially the Kare Kare

So many tasty traditional Filipino dishes to choose from. The place was clean, plenty of seating, and generous portions. The flavors were on par with what mom makes at home, prices are reasonable as well.
